Burdekin Catholic High School is part of the Sacred Heart Parish of Ayr and ultimately of the ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Townsville. The school has an active role in the life of the Parish.
Our students are encouraged to lead Parish Masses, taking responsibility for reading, commentating and music. Once a month, a Youth Mass is held in the Parish Church. Our students respond generously to these occasions providing uplifting music and singing to support the liturgy. A number of our students belong to other Parishes, such as St Colman’s Parish, Home Hill, and St Joseph’s Parish, Clare. Every effort is made to support students in their local Parish involvement.
Our hospitality students and singing groups are often called upon to assist with special Parish events.
The Parish Priest, who is also our school chaplain offers the Eucharist on whole school occasions and also with class groups.
The school participates in Diocesan celebrations, such as the Mass for the blessing of the school year.
