Music Program

School Music Program

Burdekin Catholic High School encourages all students to participate in music regardless of age or ability. As part of the Extracurricular Music Program, students are able to lparticipate in ensembles and perform within the School and for the wider community. BCHS hosts a vibrant extracurricular music program, and provides opportunities for students to perform at the Burdekin Eisteddfod, attend Mulkadee (the Catholic Youth Arts Festival) and perform at various community events. In past years, ensembles have travelled to Brisbane to perform at the Queensland Catholic Schools’ Music Festival.  Being part of an ensemble is a great chance for students to extend their reading and performance abilities, as well as having a great time making music with other like-minded musicians. These groups are funded by the College, and there is no additional fee to participate. Ensembles currently rehearsing and performing at St Anthony’s Catholic College include:

  • Rock Band
  • Worship Band

Students also have the opportunities to join one of the School Choirs.  Our Choirs provide opportunities for students to perform at the Burdekin Eisteddfod, attend Mulkadee (the Catholic Youth Arts Festival) and perform at various community events eg. perform for the residents at Ayr Aged Care Facility.

The Burdekin provides a great outlet for cultural expression through the Burdekin Singers'.  Many of our students are able to participate in full scale stage productions through this organisation.
